Individual Counseling
Individuals often find themselves dealing with the same challenges repeatedly throughout their lives or they are struck with issues that are unfamiliar and/or distressing. These challenges may interfere with their relationships with family members, friends, significant others and/or their co-workers. Furthermore, these challenges may make a person feel "stuck" or unable to achieve happiness in everyday life. In individual therapy, I provide an opportunity to identify, address and resolve these challenges as well as improve one's ability to communicate and cope more effectively. Furthermore, I will sit with individuals, listen without judgment and offer them a safe space to work through strong emotions, intense thoughts and unhealthy behavior. My goal is to assist individuals in acquiring tools and insight that will assist them with navigating through life's obstacles and upsets more confidently and comfortably.
Family Therapy
Families are unique and dynamic systems that have distinct personalities. Often, when one person in a family is hurting or engaging in unhealthy behavior and choices, the rest of the family is impacted. Furthermore, a family member does not typically live in isolation, so it is likely that their family roles, dynamics and organizational structure have influenced their problem in some way. Therefore, it can be very helpful to have families enter therapy together in order to identify underlying problems, explore and develop effective and realistic solutions and enhance interactions and communication among family members. This can result in lasting change that will improve the functioning of not only an individual, but also the entire family. Family therapy can also be helpful during times of significant change, loss or stress.
